About Turf Diseases and How We Got Started

On May 1, 2009 Turf Diseases was launched with a post entitled “Patch-a-rama in Kansas”. The concept was easy: five turfgrass pathologists from around the country would give weekly updates on disease activity for their region. Beginning with John Kaminski, Megan Kennelly, Jim Kerns, Lane Tredway and Frank Wong, The Turf Diseases Blog was a way to
utilize social media and other social networking tools to provide timely updates for golf course superintendents. Since it’s first post, Turf Diseases has continued to grow and reach various milestones. We continue to expand in our mission to 1) provide relevant information to turfgrass professionals and 2) support graduate student travel and research.
