Hi Jon, That is high but not a typo - 81 grams per square meter is equivalent to about 16 pounds per 1000 square feet. In the experiment, the N:K ratio ranged from 1:0 to about 1:4, which we estimated would cover the entire range of K application.

Thanks Jon. That is good to know. Has anyone else seen bruising on bentgrass or bermudagrass greens (or any grass type, for that matter) after rolling, to such an extent that it seems the roller is doing more damage than good?

Hi Sittichai, Thanks for the comment. We are great and really enjoyed the seminars. I'm not aware of 21-0-0 fertilizer (ammonium sulfate) causing increased leaf spot. That type of soil pH should be fine to use ammonium sulfate. This makes me curious. Hopefully some others can share their experiences, and in my case I will try to make some applications of different N sources to see if any effect on leaf diseases is detected.

Wow. I'm surprised, John, after all our discussions about lighting, to find that you don't appreciate the Axonopus, or as C.V. Piper called it, "the best of all grasses in the South for fairways." This grass can thrive with all the tree shade and cloud cover (low light conditions). It may be a bit coarse, and I admit I did not appreciate it when I first saw it, but after having grown it and played on it and seen it perform so well where other grasses would not, I now appreciate its place as a turfgrass in tropical areas.

Hi Neil, thanks for the comment. I would think that Malaysia and Taiwan would be great places for this pathogen, as it seems to be most prevalent where bermudagrass is the weakest. As for case studies, the worst I've ever seen this bermudagrass white leaf was at a golf course in Hanoi. It was on the tees, greens, fairways, and rough, during grow-in and continuing through to a year or so after opening. Now, when I've visited the course three and four years after opening, I've not seen any white leaf. Also, at ATC's research facility in Thailand, bermudagrass white leaf was evident in 2006 and 2007 and 2008 but by 2009 and 2010 it had virtually disappeared. Based on those observations, it seems that with good management of bermudagrass, the bermudagrass white leaf eventually goes away.
