Expanding our “hangouts”

In case you didn’t read my earlier post about Google+, Google’s increasingly popular counterpart to Facebook, I am going to recap some critical information about what many of us feel has real potential to be a game-changer for sharing information…Google “Hangouts”.

You see, Google+ (pronounced Google Plus) is a really great interactive “social networking” site. While many of you will have stopped reading this update after I dropped the word “social networking”, I have to say that this site has been a great and welcomed addition the world of social media. One of the greatest aspects about G+ (now you know the lingo) is their ability to form “hangouts”.  Basically, a hangout is a Skype-like video chat among 10 people from anywhere in the world. With some of their new features, they allow you to create a video chat and share content on your own computer (e.g., images, powerpoints, videos, etc.) with everyone in the hangout.

To take advantage of this and to ensure that more than 10 people can participate, we are also going to livestream #turfchat on the Turf Diseases livestream page.

Still not sure what the heck I’m talking about? Well, then check out our next episode of #turfchat where we will discuss all of the features of Google including G+, image sharing, gmail, calendars, maps and probably a lot more. If you’re new to social media, but you want to learn how to get started and how this can be used in your business or at your facility then be sure to check out #turfchat.
