Facebook Announces “Timelines”

Whether you’re a fan of Facebook or not, it is hard to fight the urge to join and see what it is all about. For those of you already using Facebook on a regular basis (there are 800,000,000 users to date), you have probably noticed the rolling out of various new features this week. Today marked the start of Facebook’s F8, their annual conference where a bunch of developers and social media geeks gather to discuss building a more social web. The focus of the first few hours was the introduction to a few new changes that Facebook will be rolling out over the next few weeks. These changes have been described as so profound that they will “change the world of social media.”

In my experience with the social media juggernaut, any change is immediately met with a series of angry comments from users and ultimately turn into functions that we don’t know how we lived without. One of these new features will be the Facebook Timeline. Check out this video from Facebook to see what you have to look forward to (or not) over the next few weeks. I personally think that the changes look amazing and I can’t wait to see how they will fit with my use of the largest social media company ever (According to Forbes’s annual “Richest People in America”, Mark Zuckerberg is now worth 17.5 billion and now has a net worth greater than Google’s founders).
